There are many sippy cups on the market. Most are plastic- some are noted as BPA free but in the end I really don't trust plastic. So I set out to find the ultimate sippy cup and came up with a few nice options.
My favorite was The Safe Sippy. Not only does it have a food grade stainless steel interior. Here are a few of the reasons I really like this cup: It has easy grip handles for baby but they can be removed for toddler use, a rubber sleeve, the spout is straw shaped (better for speech development), the internal flow stopper is made of food grade silicone and all plastic components are BPA and toxin free.
I received a Boon Sippy as a gift. Yes it is plastic but I must say I do like it. This sippy cup is BPA/Phalate/PVC free, fun, small, light, and easy for a wee-baby to hold and use. The stainless steel options are just a little too heavy and cumbersome for the smallest babies to operate. The Boon Sippy is a great starter. Our little guy was operating the Boon on his own at 6 months old.
I also like the Foogoo by Thermos. This cup is stainless steel, toxin free and doubles as a thermos- keeping it's contents cool much longer than any other sippy. What I don't like is the large flat drinking spout. As mentioned earlier the straw shape is better for speech development- but that's the only draw-back.

Hey sara,
My favorite sippy, was the klean kanteen. It does have the wide spout, but the kids liked them because they did not really look like typical sippy cups, they looked more grown up and when they wanted to drink in the car they did not leak. Mine our 5 years old and still work great, and the other good thing is they work for longer as you just replace the sippy spout for a stainless steel loop cap, or a sports cap. I had a much harder time searching for BPA sippy's as the research was not as well known when my two were little, it seems like you see alternatives everywhere now.

I too like the Klean Kantine as well as the Sigg bottles. When Spencer gets a little bigger I will be purchasing one of them for sure! Thanks for the comment Marcy. :)
